The Tall Man likes to play... Poker?!

Forum Member 'PhantasmPhan' brought to the board's attention recently a taleneted artist who had a knack for painting famous horror icons, Matt Cail. His website, HorrorArt.biz, is full of keen horror prints of various icons. He's painted Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface, Ash, Herbert West and many others.

One of his works, a spoof of the 'Dogs Playing Poker' oil paintings by C.M. Coolidge, features a series of horror killers playing poker. The roster includes Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface, Chucky, Leprechaun and even The Tall Man! Prints of the way-cool art-piece, entitled 'Horror Poker', are available from his website for a very modest cost. For more on his work, I'll turn you over to the artist himself for a few words. Matt's words appear beneath the image....

"First of all, I cannot claim credit for originating the idea behind Horror Villains Playing Poker.  My wonderful wife came up with the idea after seeing a lot of dogs playing poker prints.  The Tall Man is a wonderful anchor to the echelon of villains joining him at the table.  I also wanted to get one of the "brain sucker" spheres in there, but it needed to be doing something.  Since Phantasm has sometimes portrayed the sphere as the Tall Man's version of a swiss army knife, I thought it would be fun to have a platform extended from it, holding the Tall Man's drink.  The original work sold quickly at a horror convention, but I still sell 12" by 16" full-color, matte-framed prints.  It remains popular, and I've gotten all sorts of questions.  People often ask what's in the Tall Man's glass.  Others have asked who's going to win the game.  I honestly don't know, but certainly the Tall Man is doing better than Jason, and does not appear to be cheating like Chucky and Leprechaun.

I think horror fans appreciate art as much as the rest of the population, but I don't think there are a lot of avenues to get good horror art from. Much of the horror art that is out there you have have to donate a kidney to pay for.  I started horrorart.biz with the intention of creating affordable horror art for fans.  Since then I've had a lot of great interactions with fans and some celebrities, including George Romero, CJ Graham, Robert Englund, and most recently Danielle Harris."

I've already secured my copy of the print along with another of Matt's works, October Tears, and look forward to hanging them on my wall. Again, for more on Matt and his paintings see his website here.
